The President's Volunteer Service Award

The President's Council on Service and Civic Participation (the Council) was established in 2003 to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourage more people to serve. The Council created the President’s Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.

I am honored and humbled to be awarded the "Presidents Gold Level-Volunteer Service Award", for my work in cancer awareness, education and advocacy.

Time To Fly 2012

What a wonderful morning!  I participated in this year's Time To Fly-5K Walk, in honor and support of my beautiful friend, Danielle Enberg.  Danielle endured a cancer battle of Stage 5, Wilm’s Tumor as a child.  Upon diagnosis, she was given a less than a 3 percent chance of survival.  She is a true inspiration!

june Is National Men's Health Month

Anchored by a Congressional health education program, Men’s Health Month is celebrated across the country with screenings, health fairs, media appearances, and other health education and outreach activities.
The purpose of Men’s Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. This month gives health care providers, public policy makers, the media, and individuals an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury. The response has been overwhelming with thousands of awareness activities in the USA and around the globe.

Celebrate this month by investing in yourself-your health, by undergoing an annual physical.  This is the perfect opportunity to talk to your doctor about taking a pro-active approach to your health, including recommended cancer screenings!
